What you need to know about the next two editions

PMmedia Adv.
The World Expo is a global event that brings together nations from around the world to explore a chosen topic through engaging and immersive discoveries, showcasing progress made and prospects for the future. Held every five years, the World Expo explores technology, culture, design and ultimately human excellence. The world exhibition is organised by the Bureau International des Expositions, the company that leads, promotes and fosters the event. Founded in 1928, it oversees various Expo formats, from world exhibitions to specialised ones.
The first World Exhibition took place in 1851, in London’s Crystal Palace. Inventions from the Industrial Revolution were presented at the time and, from then on, it became a link between creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. Connecting brilliant minds, the event creates the future in the present, reflecting, in each edition, the best that each host country has to offer.

Alongside the World Expo, the organisers also produce the Horticultural Expo, the next edition of which is taking place in 2023. After hosting the FIFA World Cup, Qatar is preparing for the Expo 2023 Doha. The topic that will mark this edition is Green Desert, Better Environment, aiming to inform and inspire people about possible innovative solutions that allow to mitigate and reduce desertification. The Expo will open its doors on October the 2nd 2023, at the Al Bidda Park, and will bid farewell on March the 28th in the following year. Qatar aims to attract the international community with 80 countries participating, as well as private and public sector organisations. Everything is being geared towards a multifaceted event, with extraordinary exhibitions, diplomatic meetings, business meetings, public meetings, as well as debates and live shows. Qatar expects more than three million people to come, and entry to the Exhibition Park will be free. The guests will be able to enjoy the international area, activities, entertainment, idyllic gardens and much more. The choice of an arid location to hold the Expo’s horticultural edition intends to awaken a deep and great legacy in the Arab country, looking at prominent sub-topics such as modern agriculture; technology and innovation, incorporating new techniques to enhance agricultural productivity and balance environmental sustainability; environmental awareness, by encouraging the protection of natural resources; and also sustainability, achieving the common goal of humanity in balancing its lifestyle, governmental and business practices, through the recognition and acceptance of environmental challenges.

The Expo’s next destination in 2023: Qatar
The news continues with the official announcement of Japan hosting the next edition of the World Expo, in 2025. As a result of the pandemic, the world has been facing new challenges, such as the fragmentation of interactions between nations, the need to rebuild environments and various social systems, and changing humanity’s values and lifestyles. These circumstances require countries to come together to map out quick and effective solutions, and it is based on this need that the Expo has launched a specific topic for Japan: Designing Future Society for Our Lives. The exhibition will take place in Yumeshima, on an artificial island located in Osaka, beginning on April the 13th and closing on October the 13th, 2025.

It’s official, Japan will host the World Expo 2025

The challenge is to connect the world to the environment through an inspiring place, surrounded by the blue sea and sky. And it will be based on the question «How can we live a happy life?», with the exploration of sub-topics such as Saving Lives, Empowering Lives and Connecting Lives, which will consider not only the life of the human being, but also in a broader and wider sense. Saving Lives is associated with measures that prevent infectious diseases; Empowering Lives aims to address the enrichment of human life, including issues such as remote learning, exercise and diet, and robotics; and Connecting Lives aims to discuss a society driven by data and ICT. It will surely be a special edition, with an environment that unites the future and technology.
It is with anticipation that the world awaits the International Horticultural ExhibitionExpo Doha Qatar 2023, keeping Japan in its sights as the venue of the next edition of the World Expo
