New herbicide contains novel molecule

PMmedia Adv.
Multinational Sumitomo Chemical has announced the launch of Terbyne Max, a pre-emergent herbicide based on flumioxazin, a molecule discovered and developed by the Japanese-based agrochemical company. The product also has, in its formula, another new active ingredient: terbuthylazine.
«The advantage of this combination is that, by incorporating flumioxazin, a product belonging to the PPO herbicides, a special treatment is achieved, as it incorporates an alternative mode of action in the pre-emergence segment of corn. This enables greater and improved rotation of tools, and thus better management of the problem of difficult weeds,» explained Lucas Díaz Panizza, responsible for the marketing department of Sumitomo Chemical.
Another feature is the flexibility of use, as it can be used all year round. This means the company can position Terbyne Max as «the new strength for your corn».
According to tests carried out, the product generally achieves more than 80% control, up to 60 days after application, which means a significant difference compared to products within the same segment in the market.
